Starting my second project

For my second project I’ve started looking at options like blogs and audio slideshows but eventually again through research i’ve come back to the idea of googlemaps. I want to create something more alone the lines of the googlemaps like “top romantic places and best places” to visit in Greece. I realised that It doesn’t just have to show you places but it could also be used as an indicator for activities for example

So i’ve decided to go in a different direction.

I’ve come up with my final idea The Olympic 2012 app, i’ve researched all the Olympic apps but found most of them are quite boring and only give information about the games themselves and nothing about the fantastic city that the games are taking place in.

The Olympic 2012 app is my new idea. The app would be more of a guide to all the wonderful things that London had to offer over the games. The way that I would incoporate googlemaps into the mix would be by each day releasing a googlemap that focused on one area of London and gave a step by step guide of exactly what to do there. It would work a bit like a treasure hunt in the sense that it doesn’t just show you where to go but it set out a day plan for you, showing you the directions to the next place eventually working in a circle.

So far my general idea is in order to promote the launch for a greatly aniticipated video game, such as HALO or Final Fantasy, I want to use googlemaps to launch a 30 day campaign prior to the release date. The 30 day campaign would be a real life treasure hunt, everyday releasing a new location and at the location to have a clue. At the end of the 30 day “treasure hunt” participants who have successfully collected all the clues would find that with the clues, with these clues they would find they have to put all the cues together and decode it. The participants who successfully decoded it would win a prize.

Jay Z decode

We’ve been talking alot about our first project and options for what we can base it on.

googlemaps is so far looking like the best alternative for me.

I’m interested in the idea of using googlemaps to create a treasute hunt like map like this one from Jay Z decode campaign

I like how it can make online media fun and eventhough it;’s documented on the web it can incoporate outside activites. Like with Jay Z decode it gives it a child like aspect with the treasure hunt idea.

Ok so here is the second post of my blog.

I’ve startting to think about my first project.

Here’s the breifing for my first project:

For this assessment you have to research and develop an idea for a new online media product, service or strategy. It could be something that could work for work for traditional media companies or newer online operations, or it could be a completely new idea. You need to research your idea and then write a pitch document and do a short presentation selling the idea.

Not sur yet what i’m going to do but i’ going to keep my ideas updated using my blog.

ciao for now.
